“We cannot recommend Abby enough. As a childhood friend of Abby’s, this mama knew how incredible of a nurturer Abby was from our early days together. Abby was giving me “tummy rubs” at an early age.. when I became pregnant this past year I knew she would soon be doing the same as my doula! Abby was with us every step of the way, from first trimester to fourth and beyond. Abby did a phenomenal job preparing us for birth as well as post-partum. She was able to cover and go through all preparations for the birth… so much so, in fact, that the parenting and birthing classes we took through the hospital were ultimately redundant. Abby has a very personalized approach and offered very flexible scheduling to fit our lives at the time. She was always sensing where WE were in the process and what would be helpful and supportive for the phase and month we were in. Having a support system like Abby gave us peace of mind and confidence before, during and after the birth of our child. Abby was a tremendous advocate for mother & baby throughout the entire birthing process at the hospital. She has extensive knowledge on medications, comfort measures, and methods. She pushed us to pause and understand the risks and benefits of each decision which can be challenging in the often fast paced and emotion filled birthing process. Not to mention, she provided multiple comfort measures allowing mother and partner to be as comfortable and present as possible (best foot and back massages ever!) Abby also took notes and photos during our birthing journey which allowed mom and dad to be fully present for the whole process- this was such a gift for us. Abby’s post-partum help has also truly been a gift as it is often overlooked. She curated food, beverages and other treatments that were specifically designed to help and heal mama and baby. We were so fortunate in that she was able to help in person even after birth in whatever way looked like help to us. As a couple, we believe that doula services are highly beneficial and helped us to have an optimal birth experience. We would highly recommend doula services in general but especially from someone as incredibly thoughtful, caring and respectful as Abby Shifriss.”

If you’re looking to be supported, emotionally and spiritually and to have your birth honored - no matter what kind you have, I highly recommend having Abby in your corner! She was an absolutely essential part of my birth team and had a profound impact on how my pregnancy and birth experience went and how I feel about them postpartum. “It is truly a challenge to offer a brief summary of our experience working with Abby as our doula. Right from the start Abby made sure to learn all about us and our preferences both during pregnancy, and during our birth. She explained very clearly what the extent of her services are, and we were able to use that information to envision what her role could be during our birth experience. Speaking from the perspective of the birthing persons partner, Abby spent time with me diving in to fear, intention, and excitement. Additionally, Abby helped me to expand my ability to support my wife physically during the entirety of the journey by demonstrating useful postures and specific massage techniques.
During the labor/birth, Abby was an integral part of our birth team. She was there to offer snacks to my wife, and she was able to step in and help when I needed to assist our 4 year old son. When we ended up requiring a hospital transfer, Abby was immediately on the phone making plans with our extended support system to help care for our son and for our dogs so that we could focus fully on the birth. When it was go time, Abby was there and ready for whatever it was we wanted, whether that was hands on support or just gentle encouragement.
Abby did an incredible job in helping us all to process the events of our birth. She is an incredible listener, a strong and positive advocate for birth preferences, and was an indispensable and memorable part of our birth experience.. Anybody would be lucky to have her on their team.

“Abby is a really wonderful doula. It’s hard to know where to start to sing my praises about her care of me, my husband, and our baby boys. This was my first pregnancy and I had many complications due to it being with twins. Abby was there for us every step of the way. She was always responsive any time I reached out and full of wisdom and compassion. She checked in on me often. Her knowledge of birth, pregnancy, and the hospital system is extensive and I felt like we were in such good hands. She was an amazing support for my husband and he said many times how he couldn’t have been as present as he was for me without Abby. My original vision of my birth was a natural homebirth and I ended up with planned c section.
